ONTARIO HOME INTEL · TENANT SAFETY RESOURCE

The Landlord and Tenant Board’s N15 is titled Tenant’s Notice to End my Tenancy Because of Fear of Sexual or Domestic Violence and Abuse. It is a specialized tenant notice intended for circumstances covered by Ontario’s Residential Tenancies Act.

Privacy and safety matter. If using this process could affect your immediate safety, consider accessing appropriate emergency, legal or community support. This page provides general information and does not ask you to disclose personal details.

N15 is not the same as a regular N9

An N9 is the general tenant notice to end a tenancy where its requirements are met. N15 is a distinct statutory pathway for qualifying circumstances involving fear of sexual or domestic violence and abuse.

There is also a supporting statement

Tribunals Ontario currently lists both the N15 and a Tenant’s Statement About Sexual or Domestic Violence and Abuse. Because this process is sensitive and has specific legal and privacy requirements, use the current official documents and instructions rather than a copied or saved third-party version.

Before using an N15

  • Get the current N15 and supporting material directly from Tribunals Ontario.
  • Read the current requirements carefully, including who can use the process and what supporting documentation is required.
  • Consider obtaining legal assistance if you are uncertain about the process.
  • Avoid sharing sensitive personal information with websites or people who do not need it.
